Success at the Volunteer Fair 2026
The Volunteer Fair held last week was a resounding success, attracting a steady footfall throughout the day and generating significant interest in local volunteering opportunities.
The event, hosted in the St Mary Centre, brought together fourteen charities and community organisations, each showcasing the roles, projects, and services they deliver across Thornbury and the surrounding area. Representatives reported high levels of engagement from visitors, with many residents taking time to speak in depth with individual charities about how they could contribute.
As a direct result of the Fair, almost 50 new volunteers have already signed up with participating organisations, with further enquiries continuing to come in. Charities noted that the face-to-face format was particularly effective in helping potential volunteers understand the impact of their involvement and the flexibility of the roles available.
The Volunteer Fair forms part of Thornbury Volunteer Centre’s ongoing commitment to strengthening community participation and supporting local organisations to recruit the volunteers they need to sustain essential services.
