The opportunity

Safer Stronger Community organisers will work with their local community and other organisations involved to help strengthen and promote Safer and Stronger Community Groups across South Gloucestershire and the work these groups do to help address community issues and priorities in the local area.

Skills/Qualifications

As a Community Organiser you will usually live or work in the local area, be interested and enthusiastic in community life.

The ability to relate and communicate with people of all ages and backgrounds and have the confidence to make links with and speak up for local residents?groups is also important. Enthusiasm and willingness to take part in training and be an active member of a network of Safer Stronger Community Organiser will also help you in this role.

IT skills, and familiarity with new media communication (eg Facebook; Twitter) would be beneficial.

Safer Stronger Community Organiser volunteers will be supported by the Safer Stronger Communities Team at South Gloucestershire Council as well as other partner organisations.

The level of time commitment, type of activities and times of volunteering are flexible and can be tailored to the volunteer.

Induction training will be provided and there is the opportunity to enrol in a community development training course specifically designed for community organisers.
