The opportunity

Duties:
To assist and serve customers, providing a service of the highest standard

To assist in stock processing, including sorting, steaming, pricing and hanging of donated goods

To be involved in cash handling and till operation

To increase revenue through add-on sales at the till

To assist the manager in ensuring stock and cash security

To assist in keeping the shop premises clean and tidy

To assist and develop the voluntary team

To promote public understanding of the work of the PDSA and the importance of raising funds through the shop

To partake in the Society's bag check programme and fully adhere to all aspects of the loss prevention policy

To promote and apply the PDSA health & safety policy

Shop management team


Hours:
By arrangement. A minimum of half a day per week is preferred (9-1 or 1-5).


Dress Code:
Smart and practical, reflecting the professional image presented by PDSA.
A volunteer badge must be worn at all times.

Boundaries:
Please seek guidance from your manager regarding the boundaries of your individual voluntary role. The following boundaries apply to all retail volunteer roles:

It is unlawful for anyone other than a qualified Veterinary Surgeon to make a diagnosis, give veterinary advice or treatment to an animal. In addition, volunteers should not give advice regarding pet products or diets.

Volunteers must not attempt to give first aid unless qualified to do so

The organisation

To care for the pets of needy people by providing free veterinary services to their sick and injured animals and promoting responsible pet ownership.
