How you can help us

We are a voluntary organisation ourselves. Our main purpose is to encourage people to give their time to work with people from young children to the elderly, or on a variety of activities and projects from gardening to administration.

From the start of the Link in 1988, the Methodist Church gave invaluable support by providing the Link with a base in their vestry in Castle Court. By 1993 the Link's work and activities had expanded and it needed more space.

In December 1993 Thornbury Town Council generously agreed to lease two rooms in the refurbished Town Hall with a grant to cover rent, heating and lighting. We moved into our new premises in May 1994.

One room is the Link's office and the other is used for meetings and small functions, the latter is available for use by local groups and organisations when it is not needed for Link activities.

From 1992 to 1995 Avon County Council's Community Resources Department funded a part-time post to help us with some of our publicity, administration and fund raising. In 1995 Avon's Social Services Department became our principal source of income to enable us to consolidate, improve and expand our services and activities: South Gloucestershire Council is continuing this support.

We have received grants or donations from several sources. Local businesses have given goods and services.

But we still need to raise money ourselves if we are to maintain and develop our work with all sections of the community.

Cash donations, grants and gifts are always gratefully received, and offers of sponsorship, equipment or services are welcomed.
