The opportunity

Age Concern South Gloucestershire has three day care centres in Cossham, Filton and Soundwell. Volunteers are needed to help older people maintain their dignity and independence by assisting in a community based day centre. Volunteers are needed to establish, maintain and develop relationships with users of the Centre, provide assistance with domestic tasks including serving meals, dish washing etc, provide assistance to the day care staff and be involved in the planning and implementation of activities in the centre.
Hours of work are 9.30am-3.30pm:-
Cossham - Mondays
Filton - Tuesdays and Thursdays
Soundwell - Tuesdays and Wednesdays

The organisation

Age Concern work with a team of volunteers undertaking gardening, decorating and other minor home maintenance practical tasks, befriending, day care and computrer training. They offer an information and advice service to the elderly in South Glos.

Skills/Qualifications

Must have ability to work in a team, be reliable and trustworthy and a liking for and empathy with older people.
