Part Time Drivers are needed for a variety of local organisations, transporting people to and from day centres, hospital visits, etc. Must have clean, current driving licence. Organised, enthusiastic woman with good communication and administration skills is needed to support and co-ordinate volunteers within an agency that provides high quality services for women and children affected by domestic violence and abuse in South Gloucestershire. Training, childcare costs and expenses in return for a minimum 7 hours weekly commitment.
Do you have an interest in the Aerospace industry? Stewards are urgently required to act as guides for the public visiting Concorde at Filton. Volunteering primarily at weekends between 10 am and 3.30 pm. Volunteers also run a museum at Kemble of artefacts covering many industrial projects all of which were manufactured by the Bristol Company. A local club which supports families of twins and multiple births across South Gloucestershire is looking for volunteers to support them in making tea and coffee for Mums and drinks for the children at their weekly sessions held in Thornbury between 2-4 pm every Tuesday.
The One World Camp is a week long summer festival focusing on workshops and lectures on a range of therapies including natural movement and dance forms, holistic health, arts, crafts and much more. Approximately 120 volunteers are needed to help set up, run and take down the Festival which runs from 7-18 August in Monkton Combe, near Bath. Duties from childcare and catering to security and stewarding are required. Full training given. Thornbury Drop-In Centre is looking for Refreshment helpers to make refreshments for visitors, chat and wash-up. Very sociable opportunity. Help needed mainly in the afternoons between 1pm-3pm on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.
Thornbury FM is always on the look out for volunteers to fill a variety of roles, from presenters to receptionists, technical support to advertising. If you have an interest in your local community and the media please get in touch. Friendly, reliable volunteers needed who are able to keep an unwell/disabled person company whilst their carer has a break. Typically 2 hours per week or fortnight. Full training and support given.
A local Thornbury Primary School is looking for volunteers to help with guided reading in the classroom. No experience necessary and all volunteers will be police checked. Gloucester Disabled Skiing based at Gloucester Dry Ski slop holds sessions for disabled skiers once a month on a Sunday and are in urgent need of more volunteers. Do not need to be expert skiers, just keen, of an intermediate standard and willing to help. Adaptive instructors are able to provide training and there is no charge for ski/boot hire for volunteers from the slope. Non-skiers also needed for general help and to man the emergency stop buttons for the tow lift that is used (again training will be provided).
  Thornbury Museum need volunteers for a wide variety of roles from publicity, custodians, researchers, exhibitors, IT, conservation and education.
