The opportunity
Want to develop leadership skills?
Have you had experience of working with children and wish to practice your skills further or would you like to gain some experience with children in your community? You could support children to learn about; how to care for themselves and others, the world around them and watch them grow in self-confidence and self-esteem.
Although St John Ambulance asks for reliable and committed volunteers, you get the opportunity to make new friends, have fun and we offer a great training and support package appropriate to your role.
St John Ambulance has a thriving youth sector which runs Badgers for 5-10 year olds and Cadets for 10-17 year olds giving children and young people the opportunity to have fun, learn leadership skills and do loads more towards their Super Badger award or Grand Prior award whilst doing something worthwhile and getting a sense of achievement.
The training we offer includes:
First Aid
Working Safely with Young People
and so on
This all looks great on your CV, gives you hands on experience, new skills and helps make a difference in young peoples lives, giving you a sense of achievement!
Being a youth work takes a few hours a week, but there are loads of fun activities which you can get involved in throughout the year as well. It all depends how much time you want to give!
All members are expected to have an enhanced CRB carried out by St John Ambulance.
